Household Hazardous Waste

Eco-Depot's 2024 events have concluded. Be on the lookout for our 2025 schedule which will be posted here soon!

If you schedule an appointment and don't receive a confirmation email within 3 business days, please check your email's spam/junk folder or contact us at EcoDepot@rirrc.org.

Please note we do not accept electronics, fire extinguishers, flares, helium tanks, or any containers over 5-gallons in size. Check our A to Z search tool for disposal options.

The Eco-Depot is a free service for properly disposing of household hazardous waste from RI residents. Household hazardous waste is anything labeled with a skull and crossbones, or words like 'toxic', 'poison', 'flammable', 'combustible', etc.  Examples include mercury devices, automotive fluids, gasoline, propane tanks, fertilizers, pesticides, pool chemicals, and polishes. Download the Eco-Depot schedule and brochure with a list of the 'usual suspects' here.

For non-residential commercial hazardous waste disposal click here.

The following hazardous waste items also have disposal options in addition to Eco-Depot that may be more convenient for you. All are accepted at Eco-Depot events as well.

Please use the form below to make an appointment for an Eco-Depot collection. Appointments are made to prevent everyone from showing up at once, which reduces wait time in line. We try to service 25 cars every 15 minutes—you won’t even need to get out of your vehicle. You can view the entire schedule in the “Request Date” drop-down menu below, or download it here
