Build new skills while building your network. Professional organizations in our industry offer trainings, certificate programs, and conferences throughout the year. Resource Recovery may help cover the cost of your trainings through our municipal grant program
 

SWANA

The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) offers year-round courses and certificate programs in a variety different formats. The Southern New England Chapter also holds a yearly conference.
 

NERC

The Northeast Recycling Council (NERC) hosts spring and fall conferences and special workshops.
 

EPA SMM

The Environmental Protection Agency’s Sustainable Materials Management (EPA SMM) web academy offers free webinars throughout the year.
 

Maine Compost School

Maine Compost School is a certificate program and trains personnel to be qualified compost site operators. It's held twice per year, typically in June and October.
 

MassRecycle

This Massachusetts-centered non-profit based holds a yearly conference in March.
 

Northeast Resource Recovery Association

The NRRA is a non-profit 501(c) organization that provides cooperative purchasing programs, educational and networking opportunities, technical assistance, and cooperative marketing programs. Don't let their current audience of northern New England fool you; they offer a great conference yearly in May/June.
 

RI Compost Conference

This beloved RI-centric conference is held yearly in March by the Environment Council of RI.
 

Connecticut Recyclers Coalition

Our easterly neighbor's recycling coalition, CTC, offers a yearly conference in January.


Federation of New York Solid Waste Associations (the Federation) / New York State Association for Reduction, Reuse and Recycling (NYSAR)

NYSAR offers a conference in November, and their parent organization, the NY Federation holds a conference in May that attracts professionals from 23 states.
 

The Product Stewardship Institute

PSI is a national membership based nonprofit focusing on the end-of-life management of consumer products. Although a national organization, PSI is based in Boston and offers webinars and conferences in this area.
