The two organizations are joining thousands of groups across the country that are doing something special to celebrate America Recycles Day (ARD), a national initiative of Keep America Beautiful.  ARD is the only nationally-recognized day and coast-to-coast community-driven awareness campaign dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. It has been held on—and in the weeks leading into—November 15 for twenty years.

JOHNSTON, R.I. (July 31, 2017) – ​​​​​​​Together with an all-star cast of Rhode Islanders, Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (Resource Recovery) today unveiled a PSA campaign aimed to clean up the Ocean State’s mixed recycling.  Created in partnership with Recycle Across America® (RAA), the campaign provides a clear call to action—recycle everything that is accepted in RI’s mixed recycling program, but nothing more. By reinforcing the importance of not only recycling, but recycling right, the campaign will help keep Rhode Island’s recycling workers safe, save cities and towns money, provide high-quality raw materials to manufacturers, and preserve space in the Central Landfill.

JOHNSTON, RI—The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) joined with the Rhode Island State Police and the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (Resource Recovery) on a new initiative aimed at reducing roadside litter, particularly on highways and other roads leading to the Rhode Island Central Landfill in Johnston. Roads such as I-295, Route 6, Plainfield Pike and Shun Pike have higher than usual amounts of litter and require more frequent cleaning. The source of this extra trash is the beds of trucks - either when hauling debris to the landfill and surrounding industries or leaving it, with lightweight debris blowing out of truck beds.

JOHNSTON, RI—After an extensive six-month search, Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (Resource Recovery) today announced the selection of Joseph Reposa as its new Executive Director. Reposa succeeds Mike OConnell, who after ten years of service, will retire later this month. "We are extremely excited to have Joseph as our new Executive Director,” remarked Michael F. JOHNSTON, RI—To combat rising levels of contamination, Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (Resource Recovery) today announced shredded paper will no longer be accepted in Rhode Island’s mixed recycling program. While shredded paper is being discontinued curbside, Resource Recovery will continue to accept shredded paper, secured in a bag, at their self-serve Small Vehicle Area (SVA) located at 65 Shun Pike in Johnston. In addition to the drop-off container, Rhode Island residents can attend shredding events, compost shreds in backyard compost bins, or dispose of them in the regular trash

JOHNSTON, RI—Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (Resource Recovery) and Recycle Across America (RAA) are once again joining forces to promote proper recycling.  Last Earth Day, Rhode Island became the first state in the nation to adopt standardized recycling bin labels from RAA. Today, on the heels of that anniversary, Resource Recovery will be recognized by ­­­Recycle Across America at an EPIC “Let’s recycle RIght!” celebration at the Providence Public Library.  

JOHNSTON, RI—Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (Resource Recovery) has received Conservation Certification from the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) for its efforts to conserve and enhance habitat surrounding the Central Landfill. WHC is a national organization that promotes and certifies habitat conservation and management on corporate lands.  The quasi-public agency’s 2016 Conservation Certification was announced at the WHC’s annual conference in Baltimore, Maryland, on November 3.

JOHNSTON, RI—Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (Resource Recovery) today announced a partnership with Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) to increase recycling levels and decrease confusion at the recycling bin. As a result of the collaboration, RISD will feature Rhode Island’s Recycle Across America (RAA) labels on recycling bins campus-wide. RISD is the latest institution to adopt the standardized label solution for recycling bins since Rhode Island became the first state in the nation to adopt them on Earth Day.

JOHNSTON, RI—As summer heats up, Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (Resource Recovery) announces a hot new agreement with Recycle Across America (RAA). On Earth Day (April 22) Rhode Island became the first state in the nation to adopt RAA’s standardized label solution for recycling bins, making 36,000 free labels available to all of RI’s public schools.  As part of the same agreement, every state agency and municipality also became eligible for free labels.  Today, Resource Recovery is announcing...
