Eco-Depot to Offer Shredding at September 29 Collection in Newport

JOHNSTON, RI (August 28, 2018) – To provide residents with more opportunities to properly recycle intact sensitive documents, Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (Resource Recovery) will offer shredding services along with household hazardous waste collection at the September 29 Eco-Depot in Newport. The collection will be held at Easton’s Beach located at 175 Memorial Boulevard from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. This special event is available free of charge to Rhode Island residents only. To help reduce time spent in line, appointments should be made in advance for household hazard waste collection only. Appointments are not required for shredding.

Resource Recovery to Host Fire Prevention and Life Safety Course

JOHNSTON, RI (August 28, 2018) – As part of the OSHA Training Institute Education Center, Resource Recovery will host “NCSH 400 Fire Prevention & Life Safety” from October 1 through October 5. This 5 day training course, developed and taught by Keene State College adjunct faculty member Tony Gomes is specifically intended for safety professionals, risk managers, safety committee members, EH&S managers, fire service professionals, vendors and those who wish to broaden their education to include fire prevention and life safety. The course will provide a comprehensive working knowledge of fire prevention and life safety in the workplace. Training covers aspects of fire anatomy and behavior, characteristics of flammable and combustible materials, fire protection in buildings, codes and regulations, fire extinguishing and detection systems, emergency planning, evacuation and emergency action plans. Tabletop exercises, demonstrations and scope of required plans and programs are included. Also earned is a certificate from the FEMA Emergency Management Institute in Basic Incident Command (course ICS-100). The ICS-100component will expose the student to the Incident Command System utilized during workplace emergencies and will educate participants, who are industry personnel, as to their function and position in the system. Woonsocket Public Services Division, 1117 River Street

The City of Woonsocket invites residents to attend a free electronic waste and document shredding event on May 19 from 8 AM to 1 PM at the Woonsocket Public Services Division located at 1117 River Street. The shredding event is open to Woonsocket resident only while any Rhode Island resident is encouraged to attend the electronic waste collection. This event coincides with Resource Recovery's May 19 Eco-Depot collection in Woonsocket.

Final Community Shred Day of the Year to be Held at Shred RI on November 3

JOHNSTON – Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (Resource Recovery) is encouraging residents to attend the final Community Shred Day of the 2018 series on November 3 from 8 AM to 12 PM at Shred RI located at 2111 Plainfield Pike in Johnston. This shredding series was created to provide Rhode Island residents with more opportunities to properly recycle intact sensitive documents. Only personal documents generated in Rhode Island homes will be accepted; no documents from businesses, even home-based businesses, will be accepted.

Resource Recovery Announces Dates for 2018 Community Shred Days

Rhode Island Resource Recovery (Resource Recovery) will once again hold a series of free shredding events to provide residents with more opportunities to properly recycle intact sensitive documents. R.I. residents who want to recycle their sensitive documents can bring them to Shred RI at the Plainfield Pike Flea Market Parking Lot on the following days: May 12, 2018, 8 AM-12 PM  July 7, 2018, 8 AM-12 PM  September 15, 2018, 8 AM-12 PM   November 3, 2018, 8 AM-12 PM Only personal documents generated in R.I. homes will be accepted; no documents from businesses, even home-based businesses, will be accepted.  As a reminder, a sensitive or confidential document is one that contains a unique, identifying number that can be traced directly to a specific person, and which cannot be found readily through public searches. For example, a person’s name and address is not considered sensitive, confidential information. Junk mail can be recycled whole.
