Small Vehicle Disposal Area

Our Small Vehicle disposal area offers easy access to recycling and disposal for individuals and small businesses. Off-loading for disposal is self-serve, although an attendant will be available to assist and direct.

Some examples of items accepted at the Small Vehicle Area are listed below.  Note that many cities and towns have local drop-offs or pick-ups for these items as well.  To find out what is offered locally in your city or town contact them directly.

FREE:

  • Appliances (large, no Freon) - Examples: washers, dryers, stoves, dishwasher, water heater, etc.

  • Books, CDs, DVDs, VHS - Must be donatable

  • Cardboard - up to 6' x 6'

  • Computers - from a  home (from a business, $0.20/lb.)

  • Cooking Oil

  • Foam (polystyrene) - Foam must be clean, dry and bagged in clear or translucent bags. No spongy foam (think: #1 Fan fingers) and no packing peanuts.

  • Mattresses & box springs - Please take to your local DPW, and only use our SVA if you do not have a local drop off. Must be recyclable, i.e. relatively clean and dry (cannot be severely damaged, twisted, wet, frozen or soiled, or infested with bed bugs). Does not include fold-out sofa beds, air mattresses, futons/furniture, crib mattresses, water beds, car beds, bedding and loose mattress toppers (these are trash--see below).

  • Motor oil & filters

  • Plastics (bulky & rigid) - Examples: plastic buckets, milk crates, kitty litter baskets, lawn furniture, pet carriers, laundry baskets, storage totes, trash/recycling bins, plastic election campaign signs (metal stand removed), pallets and shelving

  • Recycle Together RI Recyclables

  • Televisions - from a home (from a business, $0.20/lb.)

  • Textiles - dry and free of odor (place in clothing/shoes donation bin)

FOR A FEE:

  • Appliances (large, contain Freon): Refrigerator, Freezer, A/C, Dehumidifier - $12/each

  • Boats, Campers & other Vessels (must have all fluids drained) - $200/ton

  • Car Batteries - $6/each

  • Clean & Recoverable Asphalt, Brick, Concrete, Rock -  $15/ton

  • Clean Wood Pallets -  $30/ton ($22 minimum)

  • Leaf and Yard debris - $30/ton ($22 minimum)

  • Mattresses & box springs-  $50/unit or $600/ton if not recyclable (includes severely damaged, twisted, wet, frozen or soiled units, and those infested with bed bugs)

  • Scrap Metal - (potentially FREE) Depends on % metal content 

  • Tires - $5/each (car), $10/each (tractor trailer), $75/each (giant) or $175/ton

  • Trash - $75/ton ($25 minimum)
