Here's a quick look at upcoming recycling related events for 2016. Remember to click here to make your Eco-Depot appointment. April

Eco-Depot Collection Events for Household Hazardous Waste (RIRRC):

  • 4/2: Lincoln, Town Hall, 100 Old River Road; 8-1; make an appointment
  • 4/9: Johnston, RIRRC; 8-noon; make an appointment
  • 4/9: Coventry, Town Hall, 1668 Flat River Rd; 8-1; make an appointment. This event is also collecting state program accepted e-waste. See below for more things happening during this event.
  • 4/16: Middletown, Second Beach; 8-1; make an appointment. This event is also collecting state program accepted e-waste and foam.
  • 4/23: Foster, DPW, 181 Howard Hill Rd.; 8-1; make an appointment. See below for more things happening during this event.

  • 4/9: 8 AM - 1 PM; Coventry Town Hall, 1668 Flat River Rd; In Conjunction with the Eco-Depot household hazardous waste collection, the Town of Coventry will offer free shredding of sensitive documents (for Coventry residents and Eco-Depot participants only) and a Drug Takeback event (No ID required for drug takeback).   • 4/9: 9 AM – 1 PM: Aquidneck Growers Farmers Market at Newport Vineyards & Winery, 909 East Main Road, Middletown, RI; hosted by Indie Cycle, LLC; $10 fee applies to some items; see what they take here.
  • 4/16: 8 AM - 12 PM; City of Newport's Clean City Program's Spring Recycling Day at Easton's Beach, 175 Memorial Blvd., Newport; free shredding of sensitive documents, recycling of scrap metal, rigid plastics, clothing &  household items, books, cooking oil, bikes (NO plastic bags, styrofoam, e-waste or hazardous waste is accepted).   • 4/20: 6 PM; Salve Regina University’ s Environmental Club, in collaboration with Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation will be hosting a one-time screening of “REUSE! Because You Can't Recycle The Planet.“ as part of the University’s Earth Week celebration at The O’Hare Academic Building at Salve Regina University. Tickets are free and the event is open to the public. REUSE! Because You Can't Recycle The Planet follows Reuse Pro Alex Eaves' cross-country adventure to the 48 contiguous U.S. states. On his journey, he finds endless reuse solutions for our waste problem that are not only sustainable, but many of which are easy and fun! And he learns just how reuse truly benefits "people, planet, and wallet." This event will include a screening of the film as well as a Q&A with director Alex Eaves, and aims to educate the community about ways to make a meaningful impact.

  • 4/23: 9 AM - 12 PM; Cardi's Furniture and Mattress, 1681 Quaker Ln. (Rt. 2), West Warwick, RI; NBC 10's Shred-It Event; limit of one copier paper sized box per person; visit the NBC 10 Facebook page for more info.
  • 4/23: 8 AM - 1 PM; Foster, DPW, 181 Howard Hill Rd.; In Conjunction with the Eco-Depot household hazardous waste collection, the Town of Foster's Conservation Commission will offer free shredding of sensitive documents as well as the disposal of e-waste and mattresses to Foster & Scituate residents. Visit their webpage for details.

  • 5/14: 11 AM - 2:30 PM, hosted by the Town of Coventry at Coventry Town Hall Annex, 1675 Flat River Rd. Coventry; Spring Compost Fest, a family-centric event to launch the Town of Coventry's Backyard Composting program. The Town of Coventry departments will be there and RIRRC will hold free workshops. Topics include Food: Too Good To Waste, Backyard Composting and a general family-friendly presentation with MaxMan, RI's recycling superhero! Town of Coventry residents are eligible to purchase compost bins at a reduced rate, with attendance to a free workshop. Call the Town of Coventry's Recycling Coordinator at (401) 822-6244 for more details.
