PaintCare invites Rhode Island households and businesses to attend a paint drop off event on Saturday, June 15 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Coventry Town Hall Annex located at 1675 Flat River Road in Coventry. Only Rhode Island households and businesses may participate in this event. For households, there are no limits on the amount of house paint, stain or varnish dropped off. There are limits on oil-based paint for some businesses.

SWANApalooza 2019: Building the Future

Resource Recovery Announces Upcoming OSHA Training Schedule

Did you know Recourse Recovery is one the newest OSHA training Institute (OTI) Education Center? We were selected through a competitive process based on our outstanding occupational safety and health training successes. This fall the following courses will be offered: Globally Harmonized System (GHS), Transitioning to Safer Chemicals, Cranes in Construction. Preregistration is required. A $25.00 late fee applies for all registrations received within 5 business days of the course start date. Keep Blackstone Valley Beautiful Recycling Event

Come celebrate America Recycles Day with Keep Blackstone Valley Beautiful (KBVB) on Saturday October 13, 2018 from 9 am – 12 pm, at the Blackstone Valley Visitor Center. Learn about from Goodwill Industries about recycling textiles, Indie Cycle about electronic recycling, Resource Recovery regarding household hazardous waste and recycling plastic bags, Mattress Recycling Council on mattresses and box springs, PaintCare for paints and stains, Full Circle Recycling about rigid plastic and scrap metal, and how Rhodeside Revival is offering compost collection to residents.  KBVB is also hosting a recycle drop-off event for electronic waste (computers, monitors, TVs, and basically anything with a plug) and mattresses & box springs at this one-day event. The Town of Smithfield invites residents to a rigid plastic and shredding event on Saturday, October 13 at Smithfield DPW from 9:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m. This free recycling event is for Smithfield residents only.  Note: This is a third-party event. Recycling Event: Gansett Days (Narragansett)

Narragansett Town Beach, West Lot, Ann Hoxsie Lane across from South Pavilion
The Town of Narragansett invites residents to the Gansett Days Recycling Event on September 15 from 8 AM to 12 PM. The event will be held in the West Lot of Narragansett Town Beach located on Ann Hoxsie Lane. Materials accepted include: paper for shredding (no box limit) electronics (computers, printers, monitors, TVs, anything with a plug), Freon appliances ($10/unit), clothing, textiles, books and used vegetable oil. Resource Recovery to Host Fire Prevention and Life Safety Course

JOHNSTON, RI (August 28, 2018) – As part of the OSHA Training Institute Education Center, Resource Recovery will host “NCSH 400 Fire Prevention & Life Safety” from October 1 through October 5. This 5 day training course, developed and taught by Keene State College adjunct faculty member Tony Gomes is specifically intended for safety professionals, risk managers, safety committee members, EH&S managers, fire service professionals, vendors and those who wish to broaden their education to include fire prevention and life safety. The course will provide a comprehensive working knowledge of fire prevention and life safety in the workplace. Training covers aspects of fire anatomy and behavior, characteristics of flammable and combustible materials, fire protection in buildings, codes and regulations, fire extinguishing and detection systems, emergency planning, evacuation and emergency action plans. Tabletop exercises, demonstrations and scope of required plans and programs are included. Also earned is a certificate from the FEMA Emergency Management Institute in Basic Incident Command (course ICS-100). The ICS-100component will expose the student to the Incident Command System utilized during workplace emergencies and will educate participants, who are industry personnel, as to their function and position in the system. Resource Recovery Wins Prestigious Industry Award for Let’s recycle RIght!® Campaign

JOHNSTON, RI (June 14, 2018) – The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) has named Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (Resource Recovery) winner of the 2018 Gold Excellence Award in the Awareness Campaign category. This is the highest award given for an awareness campaign by the industry association. The Excellence Awards Program recognizes the creation and implementation of outstanding education campaigns relating to solid waste management across North America. The award will be presented at SWANA’s annual conference, WASTECON®, on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville, Tennessee.
