Recycle Used Cooking Oil This Thanksgiving (and any day!)

posted: Mon, Nov 21, 2011

This Thanksgiving, turn waste into energy by bringing your used cooking oil to RIRRC. Newport Biodiesel picks up the oil from us and turns it into fuel, right here in Rhode Island! And remember, used cooking oil should NEVER be poured down the drain - this can lead to serious sewer maintenance issues. Many cities and towns post information on Fats, Oils and Grease (or “FOG” as it is often referred to) for their residents. For example, here's a great reference about FOG from the City of Providence: http://www.providenceri.com/DPW/environmental/fog

To learn more about Newport Biodiesel, visit www.newportbiodiesel.com, and to see what else you can drop off in our small vehicle area here at RIRRC, check out www.rirrc.org/sva.

Happy Thanksgiving RI!
